Play Therapy

What is Play Therapy?

Do you ever feel like something is bothering you, but you don't know how to say it? Or perhaps you don't know how you feel? Play therapy can help.

As your play therapist, I will try to help you feel better without you having to explain things in detail; and together, we will make the hurts smaller.

If there is no bad, what happens if I break something?

Accidents do happen in the playroom and sometimes things do break. As your play therapist, it is my job to keep you safe, so I will let you know if there is something you cannot do. Otherwise, you are the boss in the playroom -  you're in charge!

When will I see you?

Our time together in the playroom will be at the same time every week. Sessions are roughly 45 minutes long.

What if I don't know what to play?

A play therapy room is filled with toys, art and craft materials, games and cosy corners to sit in. Sometimes, you might not want to play, and that's okay. There is no good or bad, right or wrong in play therapy.

Will you tell my family what I do in the playroom?

I will not tell your family what you do in the playroom, but you can if you want to. Sometimes I will have meetings with your caregivers to discuss the feelings in the playroom, but I will always talk to you about it first.

How long do I have to be in therapy?

Often, our problems can get better when we understand our feelings. You will know when you feel ready to stop.
